Pastor or bastard?

A day before the New Jersey legislature votes on a civil unions bill the state Senate has told a pastor he is no longer welcome in the chamber after he delivered a scathing attack on same-sex couples.
The Reverend Vincent Fields made the attack during the invocation that starts the Senate session.

I can understand (even if I don’t agree) that some fellow pastors see homosexuality as a sin, and that they therefore speak out against it. But doing so in this way shows a lack of judgement that I find sad. It will not further the cause of anti-gayness, but it will provide very bad publicity for Christianity and for Christ. I blogged about that the other day.

Even if you want to tell someone some choice truths, do you have to do that in such an appalling way? Rev. Fields is quoted to have said in his prayer: “We curse the spirit that would come to bring about same-sex marriage. We ask you to just look over this place today, cause them to be shaken in their very heart in uprightness.”

Maybe he confused the words “pastor” and “bastard”. They do sound rather alike, don’t they?
