As I mentioned in a previous blog (May 10), Antonia and her mother were to spend four days in hospital this week in order to find out what is ailing Antonia. Joakim and I drove them to Helsinki yesterday (Monday), and then spent a peaceful day, just us guys. The ladies were supposed to return home on Thursday.
Today, I took Joakim to day care and then spent the day in splendid isolation. Very restful indeed. Knowing that two more days of wonderful idleness were ahead also added to my inner peace.
This was, however, not to be. Christel called to say that they were going to be released today already, and would we please come pick them up. Which we did, of course. The problem was that spending two hours in the car yesterday and two more hours today, plus a day on the town yesterday and a full day of nursing and frolicking today tended to wear Joakim out. He was really tired and cranky tonight. From that point of view it would have been better to give him a day in between to rest up a bit. Oh well, it’s nice to have the ladies at home, regardless.
The very good news is that Antonia apparently has a bad case of atopic skin (if that is the correct English term), and not so severe an allergy as we had feared. She is allergic to something, too, and more tests will follow, but the situation is better than expected.
Praise the Lord!
