Health? - part 1

I hate health problems.

My daughter Antonia (1 year 5 months old) has some sort of allergic eczema. We don’t know what she’s allergic to, so she’ll spend four days next week in the Allergy Hospital in Helsinki (together with her mother, naturally). To top things off, she’s got some sort of flu at the moment …

Myself, I’m not too well off, either. A couple of years ago, my colon was removed because of a severe case of ulcerous colitis (i.e., my colon wouldn’t stop bleeding), so now, I have a so-called J-pouch. At worst, my haemoglobin level was 61, in stead of its normal 140, so I was badly anaemic. I also hurt - badly - and didn’t dare eat too much, because that tended to make things worse. Result: I lost 36 kg’s in six months. Of course, I wasn’t thin to start with, but still …

Now something’s amiss again. I have cramps in my stomach most of the time. It affects my work and my life as a whole. I went to the doctor who gave me some pills (that actually work, a little) and a time for a gastroscopy two weeks later. So, the day after tomorrow, I’ll be swallowing a camera, that hopefully is smaller than the one we have at home…

We’ll see what they find. Fun, fun, fun!
