He's working for women's rights, for human rights, for equality... so please tell me this guy actually exists...

I am pleased to confirm that this guy exists :)
Hänen valintansa presidentiksi sai minut aloittamaan blogin pitämisen, jonka aloitin samalla kuvalla kuin sinäkin.

...and he hasn't been assassinated yet! Will the wonders never cease!

I am relieved. Congratulations for your good taste ;) That's a really good picture!
As for the assassinations... I'm sure it's not up to people not trying. You know, my grandmother mentioned him one day. She was thinking how good it was he hasn't been assassinated, unlike some of his predecessors. And then I realised that she had witnessed some of the civilisations turnpoints, such as JFK, or the landing to the Moon, the second World War... It's so odd I haven't spoken with her (or my other grandmother who was born on 41, too) about their lives or these events at all!

Nobody wants to go to the US army nowadays, thus this political move was very cynical. The situation of the war veterans who have had to leave pieces of their body behind is not very good in the USA.

True. One can't really complain about the lack of personnel while excluding many able-bodied young people. Perhaps the pro-war movements has also decreased in numbers as the pro-crisis management is growing. Of course a logical move, too: why spend time and energy battling in wars when you can prevent the start of a war with less resources. Hmm... maybe it's not masculine enough.
I always thought that war veterans are some kind of national heroes in USA like here in Finland, these infallible creature who have done the ultimate sacrifice for losing a leg or two after stepping on a mine. Perhaps I've had this picture in my head because of the overall patriotic atmosphere in USA, as far as the image provided in Finland is concerned. Apparently I'm wrong. Have to remember to look into it closer at some point. And while I'm at it, the Finnish situation, too, although there may not be that many veterans left.
