Well others are European (one Finn, one French, one Italian, three Netherlanders) but, seriously, you've never heard of Tori Amos? She's an American singer-songwriter, been active for over two decades. Also one of the few (in addition to Madonna and others) women to have five or more top-rated albums on some American musical authority listing (it's in her Wikipedia article in the beginning). Check her out, she's really good!
