La problème de Sôma.

Does anyone know how to get one's hands on non-Finnish non-mainstream European bands' records in Finland? Not in Amazon (where the record in question is labelled as 'pop'... apparently they haven't listened to it, or even looked at the not-very-poppish cover...). I've tried CDON.com and also ariman.fi which is supposed to specialise in rare records, but none in either of those.

Suggestions, anyone?

Do you mean like Italian pop. Glaudio Magnioli, Gianni Nannini,,,,and so on? I heard in Vega radio this summer ABBA singing in Swedish which big world has never heard. I liked it very much, and like to know where to buy it. They also sang in German!!!

Some record stores have some selection, at least if the store is more specialized...I know couple of stores in Helsinki with some selection at least in folk and metal...

Torontosta: Italian pop... I don't even dare to imagine... Britney in English is bad enough... Oh, I didn't know ABBA made versions of their songs in any other than English. Good to know.

Millikan: The record in question is an album by a French metal group ETHS and their 2004 album Sôma. So it's not that old but in Finland I can only find their latest. Perhaps I need to take a trip down to Helsinki this summer after all.. and while I'm at it, I might go to Heureka as well. :)

Not sure if that particular album can be found, but...

Generally finding non-English foreign mainstream music in record stores is much harder than specialty fields like metal or folk music...probably I would search in vain if I wanted to get, say Tocotronic or Planetas albums. Same goes for other direction too: in other countries finding stuff like Finntroll, Ensiferum or Gjallarhorn is relatively easy (and I have even seen Antero Raimo & Ovet album in Germany...) while stuff like Eppu Normaali or Zen Cafe does not travel :)

And as far as Amazon labels go...a while ago I looked a bit there and decided to take a look on "oldies" section, in case they had stuff like Ethel Merman or Fats Waller...and found Beatles albums there. Thanks, not my place.
