It can't rain all the time... New Post!

Näytetään bloggaukset lokakuulta 2005.

Do I laugh or do I cry?

So, anyway, the story in a few words or less, is that I live in Rural Finland...

I also have always had a passion for outdoor life and outdoor activities, so I can hunt, hike, climb, fish, fell trees, chop wood, light fires without matches, etc. and so forth... Blah blah blah...

Now I am a city-girl, but I am and have always been drawn to the vast silences of the open wild...

Ok, enough about me, let's talk about a neighbour of mine, who recently had the following to say to me:

"Jos tädillä olis munat, täti olis setä..."

Implying, to put it bluntly, that 'if I had balls, I'd be a man', which of course, begs the question: WTF?

I suppose I dislike gender stereotypes, I know men who can cook, clean and iron much better than many women, and in my eyes it increases their masculinity, rather than does anything to detract from it.

Same with women, just because a woman can do something like, fish, hunt, chop wood, etc. does not make her more like a man, it makes her a more powerful woman.

Of course, my neighbour thinks I am a Catholic Nun on Sabbatical, which was a story I concocted after becoming tired of being asked about my husband/children/boyfriend and stuff like that.

It cracks me up that ANYONE could think I am a Nun, but eh, I suppose it looks good on a CV, hmmm?

(Though, come to think of it: I ain't gettin' nun... *sigh*)

The Latest Headlines

It's another day!

Today, my fun amusements included: Writing boring, dry, dreary letters to people, asking them to please pull their heads out of 'you know where' and please hurry it up...

You know:

To whom it may concern,

Though I am aware that 'Chronic Cranial-Rectal Impaction', is a valid condition for someone in your profession, would it be possible for you to dispense with the symptoms just for a little while?

Thanks ever so much...

A sarcastic lesbian from Siberia...

Now I need a vacation! I am starting to feel punchy!

"We are Dyslexic of Borg! Resistors are fertile! Prepare to have your arse laminated!"

(Shhh, I am Dyslexic, so I get to make fun!)

It's mad I tell you, mad!

More shopping! Acggghhhhhhgurglecoughagtgagaga!

My consolation prize is that CSI is on tonight! Yeah baybe!

Ok, so for the first 3 or 4 seasons, I thought Catherine Willows was da Bomb! I barely noticed Sara Sidle...

Now however, I am noticing 'Sara Baybe'. I think the producers and writers have done something to give Jorja Fox's character some more hubba, or something.

Not that Marg Helgenberger is at all shabby, I adored her in China Beach and she is a very attractive woman, but this season I seem to be noticing her less, and Jorja more.

Oh well...

Now I must go and recover my scattered wits, there is something insane about grocery shopping; I hate it, so I shop for like 2 or 3 weeks at a time, which always causes cashiers to cringe and other customers to stare at me...

Heh...

It's a beauiful day...

And I am feeling creative; a damn good thing too, as I have so-called homework to do (which at my age just sounds silly) and I have 2 or 3 unfinished stories to write, I need to finish making my house, yard and sheds winter-proof.

I also need to go shopping... snore ...

Don't get me wrong, I kind of like shopping, sometimes, but not when it's groceries and stuff.

Why do kids want to grow up so fast? Being an adult is fun, sure, but it is also a drag oftentimes...

Ah well, can't complain, but today I must workout though, as winter will make me into a blob if I let it...

Manic Monday

Actually it is very calm, but I was having a Bangles moment... Shush, Rain - you're showing your age!

Well, my pet PC started up nicely this morning and aside from some pre-assumed settings, courtesy of Bill Gates, things seem to be just fine! Yay...

I am enjoying my last day of somewhat vacation, hoping that nothing will happen today that demands too much of my attention as I am truly not in the mood.

Not unless she is Phat!

My next challenge is to find a way of getting my hands on the first season of The L Word, without paying and arm and a leg and a kidney for it.

Of course, this goal is right along side the ones of lesbian world domination, (Yes, the Christian Right is correct, there is a sinister Gay Agenda! *D'oh!*) and finding the perfect cup of coffee...

Tralalaa...

How to raise a computer...

Ah, well, my second installation of security software was much more successful than the fiasco of the other day.

Be it because I have gotten better, or because the installation file was just better, who knows...

Anyway, no my little computer is humming along so well and is safe(r) from dem-dere nasty thingies that float about the internet.

So, I must say that Wire in The Blood is truly a good show, even me, the consummate Cop-Show watching Hitchcock fan can't even figure out what is going to happen next.

It of course helps that the lovely DI Jordan is just so lovely...

The show, Cold Feet, was another place where I got to drool over her, but alas in that show she was not the focus and some weeks did not even show up, so I would start channel surfing, well ok, channel paddling...

I only have basic 4 stations...

So, the Jazz playing on my stereo is smooth; now I just need an ocean vista and a freshly made cappuccino and some conversation to go with it...

Let is snow!

It's cold outside! No wait, it's not...

But it did snow last night, a couple of centimetres, of very wet and heavy snow.

My puppy, who has never seen snow, was very funny as he tip-toed in a very funny doggy way cross the yard...

Really, he is so fussy, does not like rain, cold, snow; maybe he is related to me.

Speaking of pets... My pet PC seems to have calmed down from whatever constipation it was having a few days ago when I installed a new firewall and new anti-virus software.

Though, I still have one more upgrade to make, so no doubt we will be going through the whole mess again sometimes soon, just as soon as I make said upgrade.

On another front, tonight comes Wire in The Blood!

Hermione Norris is da BOMB!

- imho anyway -
